Financial Aid

The Woodward School remains committed to our Founders' intent to make an excellent college preparatory education available to as many qualified girls as possible. Woodward does not consider a family's financial situation for admission.

Current Families: February 1st, 2019 is the deadline for filing a Financial Aid application for the upcoming school year. Students applying after this date should contact the admissions office prior to completing the application to ensure the availability of funds.
New Families: February 15th, 2019 is the deadline for filing a Financial Aid application for the upcoming school year. Students applying after this date should contact the admissions office prior to completing the application to ensure the availability of funds.

  • The Woodward School uses the School and Student Services (SSS) system to determine a family's financial need. Need-based aid is calculated by assessing each family's income and expense information and factors, including family size, tuition expenses for other children, assets, liabilities, and cost of living.

  • Please visit https://www.solutionsbysss.com to complete or update the Parents' Financial Statement (PSS) and use the Woodward School code, 8312. The SSS Helpline is 1-800-344-8328.

For parents who are separated, divorced or were never married, Woodward requires that each parent file a PFS along with additional tax documentation. Parents can be assured that all financial information received from one parent will not be shared with the other.

Scholarships

Quincy Adams Scholarship picture of President John Adams

The Quincy Adams Scholarship is awarded to Quincy residents, daughters of Quincy municipal employees, and the daughters of any educator teaching within the City, who enroll at Woodward. This scholarship honors President John Adams and the Adams family for their commitment to education and historic ties to Quincy and Woodward. Applicants to Woodward must provide proof of Quincy residency or employment annually, to receive the Quincy Adams Scholarship. There is no fee or other application for this scholarship.

Mary Greenleaf Scholarship
The Mary Greenleaf Scholarship is awarded to daughters and granddaughters of Woodward Alumnae, who graduated from Woodward or attended the school for three or more years. This is an annually renewing, tuition scholarship, applied automatically upon acceptance for eligible girls, and was conceived to reflect the School's esteem for our Alumnae and their legacy of accomplishment, service and giving back to the school. The scholarships honor our Co-Founder, Mary Wroe Greenleaf Woodward, as we aspire to maintain a tradition of Woodward daughters enjoying the transformational benefits of a Woodward education - as their mothers and grandmothers did before them. To inquire about eligibility, contact the admissions office at admissions@thewoodwardschool.org. There is no fee or other application for this scholarship.
Abigail Adams Merit Scholarship Program for Entering Middle School Student

It is also awarded based upon criteria of academic excellence, good character, notable talents or achievements, and teacher recommendations from the student’s sending school.  These criteria will be gleaned from the student’s admissions application. To apply for this scholarship, contact the admissions office at admissions@thewoodwardschool.org. There is no fee or other application for this scholarship.

Other Scholarships

The Woodward School awards a limited number of other need-based scholarships through the 1894 Scholarship program. Individual awards range in value, depending on the student's financial need and other criteria.  Scholarship Awards are funded by generous gifts from Woodward benefactors. Without this support from alumnae and friends of the School, Woodward would not be able to continue to meet the full financial need of all of our aid applicants. Named Woodward scholarships are given to students who are eligible for financial assistance and who meet the additional selection preferences specified by donors.  Students apply for Woodward scholarships by completing the student application for need-based financial aid. No other application is required.
