Music Education at Woodward

Music education is a fundamental aspect of Woodward’s curriculum. The Music Department provides music instruction and performance opportunities that enhance the lives of our students and our greater community, and seeks to engage students in learning the universal language of music, and in listening, collaborating and creating music, for a lifetime enriched by music.

Woodward’s music program includes choral, voice, and instrumental instruction for all grade levels. All Middle School students study and perform in the Middle School Chorus, and Upper School students may join the Upper School Chorus and small group ensembles.  All students have opportunity for instrument instruction, through private and group lessons. In the classroom students may study music history, listening, and theory.

Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.
